I caught 3 pics from today’s adventures. We went and painted at studio while hanging out with @gessicasilverman @ninailene and #nancyanderson. The girls loved painting on canvases, Emile loved painting his face, and Gidi kinda chatted and explored my tools. After that we bikes over to @assemblyrow for some ice cream and park time. Mazzy’s painting is second pic, Clem’s is the third. #tiredtoddlers
She was psyched for lunch @zuzu.at.middleeast latkes, fried green tomatoes and some bacon. Delish!!
Getting closer to being a shirt. I swear the instructions were written in English but I had to reread them several times to figure out how it all worked. That part is really satisfying. @oliverands @alexiamarcelleabegg
So much excitement going to vote. She passed out on the couch this afternoon. #mayhem
#bpsewvember #contrast I have 4 kids. 2 boys, 2 girls. I make them sets of things that coordinate, but have contrast. The girls usually vary between warm and cool while the boys are more structured vs casual. They’re all very different kids, so I like to make them things that fit their personalities. This fabric is for a pair of #geraniumdress es that I’m making them.
Believe it or not, all that stuff will become a button-up shirt. Emile is going to be friggin adorable in it. @oliverands @alexiamarcelleabegg
I just found out about @bimbleandpimble #bpsewvember and I think I’ll join in and play along! Im a little late to the game so I’m going to combine day 1-3 here.
1. Hi there: hiya! I’m Ellie, a maker and while I’m not new to sewing, I’m new to following patterns and making custom clothing. It’s a bit of a new direction for me artistically and as a maker, but it’s opening up a whole new world of possibilities that I’d never considered before. I started exploring back in April/May. I’m also a mom to 3.5 year old triplets and an 19m old bonus baby. I don’t have as much time to sew as I’d like to, but I do love being their mom and making things for them.
2.Luxurious: when I really started checking out sewing, two companies that I really gravitated to are Cotton and Steel and Cloud 9. Their patterns are always amazing and eye catching and totally up my alley. They feel luxurious to me, but are also very accessible.
3.Philosophy: when it comes to making clothes for my kids I never gave it a second thought. Then, while checking out patterns for them, the #washidress caught my eye and got me thinking about the idea of making my own clothes. As both a tall and plus sized gal I hate shopping for clothes because they never fit me as I’d like them too , so what better thing to do than make things that fit me just the way I’d like?! It’s a simple idea, but one I’d never considered!! Now I feel like the sky is the limit.
I like seeing the old things and the new things together. #family
